Foley & Sound Effects

The purpose of foley is to complement or replace sound, effectively enhancing a soundtrack of a film, video game or other multimedia work and synchronizing the new audio with the actions present in the frame. Foley is usually split into three main groups or stems: footsteps, moves and spot effects. The first consists of reproducing all footsteps of characters seen in the picture. The second is simply a track recorded to represent the clothing worn by each character in the picture. Finally, spot effects are all the other sounds that are recorded to replicate sounds or complement events on screen such as telephones, chairs moving, or even bodies falling to the ground.

We treat every scene as its own separate entity and tailor sound effects to fit the mood of the picture. Because we have a fully-mobile sound rig, we can capture the most realistic sounds and atmospheres, whether it be the side of FDR Drive or the middle of a dense New England forest.
